About the Fellowship

The Burry Fredrik Design Fellowship is dedicated to launching the careers of graduates from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale design departments through a collaboration between the Burry Fredrik Foundation, David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, and Connecticut’s professional producing theaters. Each year, one Burry Fredrik Design Fellow (BFDF) will be selected by the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale Design Faculty (with approval by the Dean) from among the graduating designers and will receive a $10,000 fellowship award.

Burry Fredrik Foundation Design Grants

In addition, the Burry Fredrik Foundation is committed to supporting the careers of graduates of the Design Program of the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. Starting with the 2023 graduating class, for a period of two years following their graduation (starting July 1 and ending June 30 two years hence), when a graduate of the David Geffen School of Drama Design Program is hired and accepts work as a designer at any of Connecticut’s professional producing theatres, for their first production at the theatre, the Burry Fredrik Foundation will award that theatre a grant in an amount equal to the customary and usual fee paid to the graduate for their design.
